DRX9000

DRX9000 decompression treatment

Decompression treatment is used to help relieve the pain and symptoms caused by nerve compression in the spine. For many patients diagnosed with nerve compression, the simple act of lengthening and stretching the spine with a decompression treatment is enough to relieve the pressure on the impacted nerve root in the spinal canal and reduce the pain and discomfort.

Nerve compression occurs when the vertebrae of the spine are compressed due to age and weight gain, as well as other factors. When lasting pressure is placed on the spine, the components of the spine begin to wear down, causing the development of degenerative spine conditions, such as bulging discs, herniated discs or bone spurs. These spine conditions can cause the components of the spine to move out of alignment, possibly impacting a nerve root in the spinal canal and resulting in severe chronic pain.

If you are experiencing chronic pain due to a pinched nerve, you should consult your physician about undergoing a decompression treatment or other conservative treatments to help reduce your pain.

What to expect during a DRX9000 decompression treatment

The DRX9000 decompression machine is a device used to lengthen and stretch the spine to reduce pressure on severely impacted nerve roots in the spinal canal. This decompression table works by placing negative pressure on the area of your spine that is causing your pain and discomfort. Over time, that area of the spine is elongated to allow the proper spacing in the spine and relieve pressure on the surrounding compressed nerve root.

During this treatment, you will lie on your back on a table. Once the machine is turned on, you will feel a gentle stretch in the affected area of your spine. Some patients describe an immediate pain relief while the machine is on, though this relief does not always last after the treatment session. Because the decompression table is a gradual stretch over the general affected area of the spine, patients often need several months to measure the effectiveness of the treatment.

Alternative treatment for nerve decompression

For some patients, the several months needed for conservative treatments to be effective is not a viable option. If you are in severe, chronic pain and are searching for a safer, more effective treatment alternative to traditional open back surgery, we encourage you to contact Dr. Diego Kostzer.
